Cynthia has just had an 800 horsepower engine put in her race car: 'It should put me down the quarter-mile track in 9 seconds. Last year was a 10.6 sec run but I need speed to compete in the USA racing circuit.'
It's otherwise an 'ordinary' American/Canadian car on the outside.
Bill's car last year was 1400 hp and covered the quarter mile in 8 secs !

Bill says: 'A typical run which includes driving through the staging lanes, doing a burnout and running the quarter mile than back to the pits (total trip of approximately ¾ of a mile) uses approximately 6 litres of fuel. The gas we run is leaded and has an octane content of 116.
In a quarter mile run Cynthia reaches speeds of between 150 and 155 mph in approximately 9.5 seconds from a standing start.
